Rayne McGirr — Founder & Head Trainer

Rayne McGirr harbors an amazing passion for working with animals. Her journey began 12 years ago when she followed in the footsteps of a family member to become a dog trainer. Since then, she has cultivated her skills and earned several certificates in her field. Her need for personal knowledge and growth, combined with the love and care she shows each of her clients, makes her an excellent trainer and educator.

Rayne grew up in North Texas and shares a love for nature, animals, and education. On her days off you can find her hiking in the woods or taking her dog for a run. She currently lives with her husband, Christopher, and their dog, Soda (Border Collie mix).

Rayne and Chris share a love for the outdoors and exercise — always going on fun adventures with their dog or participating in a marathon or two. Rayne brings an understanding and optimistic attitude to every situation, which leads to her being loved by animals and humans alike.

Our Approach

Kind, effective & inclusive of the whole family

My Training Methods

Our training is effective, kind, and inclusive of the whole family — using motivating and, most of all, fun methods to educate. Our style uses functional reward-based training that is not physically or psychologically intimidating.

We believe in science-backed learning principles that promote happy humans and dogs, and that by building a relationship founded on love and logic, you and your dog can enjoy life to the fullest!

We utilize positive reinforcement — treats and toys that help the dog understand what we want them to do. Our methods also align with LIMA principles (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive).

Continued Education

Rayne is a CGC and Trick Dog Evaluator through the AKC and an active student with the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy, with continuing certification work through The International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.

Focused Fido's training and education is grounded in scientifically researched, respected organizations including Fear-Free Pets and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.

Focused Fido is fully accredited, insured, and certified — because pets are family, and trust matters.

The Mascots

Meet our training assistants

Rayne's own pups often tag along for lessons and serve as our very own Focused Fido mascots!

Kodi the Spaniel, senior training assistant

Kodi

Senior Training Assistant

Kodi is our senior training assistant. He is 13 years young and has been helping dogs and humans alike since he was just a pup!

When Kodi isn't helping a pup in training, you can find him out on a sniff walk or curled up in his favorite bed. You may see him in action if your dog is working on dog distractions, or if you have a new puppy just starting in our puppy program.

Soda the Border Collie mix, training assistant

Soda

Trick Dog In Training · Video Star

Soda is a 5-year-old Border Collie mix currently working on his Trick Dog titles, foundations for frisbee, and starring in the Focused Fido training videos.

Soda is a dog-selective pup — he may not enjoy the company of strange dogs or large groups. Not all dogs love these settings, and that's okay! He prefers to work from home.
